Beth Cromer BA (Hons) DipLA MLI – Senior Landscape Architect

Experience
Since graduating from the University of Greenwich Beth has worked in private multidisciplinary and architectural practices in London including Building Design Partnership, Levitt Bernstein Associates and Atkins Global. During her time at Levitt Bernstein Associates she gained a great deal of experience executing large scale social housing and urban regeneration schemes in socially deprived areas, predominantly in London. She was responsible for the administration of a multi-phased housing regeneration project in a neglected area of south east London which saw her expand her practical knowledge of community consultation, planning negotiations and project delivery. This involvement gave her a good insight into the landscape design process leading her to achieve Chartership status of the Landscape Institute in 2006.

Key Skills
While working in multidisciplinary practices Beth has built up a great deal of experience collaborating with other professions within the construction industry. This has helped her to appreciate the diverse demands of a project, taking into account all interests in a site to produce a well considered and appropriate scheme for the client and community involved. She is a good communicator with strong design skills which she uses to illustrate and support all aspects of the design process. She has a good plant knowledge and an enthusiasm for innovative and sustainable building materials.

Interests
Her main interests lies in construction and soft landscape detailed design. She believes that high quality landscape design can transform one’s perception of their environment and enrich people’s lives indefinitely. She particularly enjoys transforming dull inanimate spaces into stimulating areas of play and discovery and strives to achieve designs that are cost effective, functional and beautiful. Walking is a very important part of her life. She loves to be outdoors and likes to travel and explore the natural environment by long distance walking and camping. Having walked 1000 miles across France and Spain in the summer of 2007 has led her to believe that walking is the greatest means of appreciating the landscape, helping us to build an understanding and respect of our environment at a human level.
